Project: Uptake of Uptake of agricultural technologies and best practices amongst farmers in Battambang and Pailin provinces

About: In June of 2017, Eric completed a Bachelor of Agribusiness majoring in Rural Science through the University of New England. He then spent two and a half years in Toowoomba, where he studied externally whilst working part time for a local agricultural reseller. He then accepted a position as a junior agronomist with the same company and relocated to Katherine, in the Northern Territory, 350kms south of Darwin. This company has a strong focus on mango, melon, and tropical pasture crops.

Growing up on a beef property an hour south of Darwin is where Eric developed his passion for tropical agriculture. Mangoes along with tropical forage and pasture crops are his major enterprises of interest. Aside from being keenly involved in the North Australian agricultural industry, Eric has a strong desire to pursue a career in agricultural development. During a university study tour of the Cambodian agricultural industry, he found many similarities between Cambodia’s tropical climate, soil types and crops grown to those he’d experienced in the Darwin and Katherine regions.
