Project: Next generation agricultural extension: social relations for practice change

About: Dr Caitlin Finlayson is a sociologist. She recently completed her PhD at the Institute for Human Security and Social Change, La Trobe University. Her PhD research looked at how international NGOs can transform themselves to engage well with the challenges of change and uncertainty in a contemporary context. For this research she worked in partnership with Oxfam Aotearoa and followed their journey of transformation in an action research capacity. She holds a Bachelor in Sociology from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Science in Development Studies from Lund University. She has completed research in South East Asia and Southern Africa working in partnership with government and non-government agencies. She is interested in critical perspectives on development, postdevelopment debates and utilises participatory methods in her research.
